Cait is not a licensed mental health practitioner and this is not psychotherapy, or mental health counseling. Those who have significant trauma, or have received multiple mental health diagnoses can benefit from trauma-informed somatic coaching.

Scope of Certifications/Trainings:

Trauma Informed Coaching understands how the presence of a client’s past trauma effects their present day life. Coaches use this information as a guide for helping clients utilize their strengths and positive coping strategies, instead of trying to get rid of “negative'“ behaviors and limiting beliefs. Coaches act as mentors and guides, often providing education about trauma and recovery through a client-focused lens.

Coaches do not treat, diagnose or provide treatment plans for their client’s.

Coaches do not prescribe or give advice about medication.

Cait adheres to the ethical guidelines set by the International Coaching Federation.

Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy offers a holistic, somatic framework for understanding and working with trauma from a body-centered, bottom-up perspective. This approach allows for client’s to integrate an understanding of their developmental and attachment experiences as well the culture, structural inequities, intergenerational trauma, and systemic forces of oppression they have been subject to.

Somatic Trauma Therapy encompasses a wide range of approaches, each based on the foundational principle that healing and integration happens through our bodies' primal language of movement, breath, and sensation.

Techniques included in this program:

• Somatic Experiencing
• Hakomi Method
• Sensorimotor Psychotherapy
• Applied Polyvagal Theory
• Focusing, Dance/ Movement Therapy
• Somatic Stress Release
• Internal Family Systems
• Somatic Attachment Theory
• Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)

Somatic Experiencing offers a framework to identify where a client is “stuck” in the fight, flight or freeze responses and provides interventions to release traumatic shock, restore connection, and transform the wounds of emotional and early developmental attachment trauma.

SE works by guiding a client to completion of incomplete self-protective responses to release the trapped survival energy bound in the body and nervous system, therefore addressing the root cause of trauma symptoms.

This is completed by over time, in a modulated way guiding clients to develop increasing tolerance for difficult bodily sensations and suppressed emotions, thereby building their capacity for containment and resilience.

SE training allows for Cait to support highly traumatized, and disregulated clients. However Cait encourages her trauma-informed somatic coaching be part of a team of practitioners. She encourages clients to sign a release with their primary mental health care provider that allows Cait to be in contact with them regarding their care. This will not be required, however as stated above, strongly encouraged.
